Samsung Portable SSD T5 Comes Subtle, Easy to Carry Around with Excellent Performance
The most recent portable hard drive, Samsung Portable SSD T5, made a good first impression, although it can be considered a bit pricy at $799 for the 2TB version, $399.99 for 1TB, $199.99 for 500FB and $129.99 for 250GB. We’ve observed how the new device looks, and we’re ready to share it with you.
Subtle and easy to carry around
The T5 maintains for the most part the size of its predecessor, 0.4 by 2.3 by 3.0 inches (HWD) and 1.8 ounces. Easy to fit anywhere, Samsung Portable SSD T5 is compact and it has an aluminum case that is designed to protect it from falls up to 6.6 feet. The more expensive products (2TB&1TB) will sport an all-black design, while the other two (250 GB&500 GB) will be available in a metallic shade of blue.
The portable hard drive managed to pass the tests and surpass many of its competitors on the market, while speed is one of its strong points. For example, the drag-and-drop test revealed that the T5 needs just 3 seconds to transfer a 1.3GB test folder with USB-C, and about 4 seconds using USB 3.0, less than it is needed for many rival devices. Another positive thing to point about the new T5 is the fact that it is Android, Mac, and Windows-compatible.
Correcting the past and refining the future
The T5 SSD can be used with any PC or laptop since it’s equipped with both USB-C-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-USB-3.0 cables, an addition compared to the T3 that did not have USB-C cables. Another great enhancement is the good per-Gig value that has improved from the previous device. For the 2TB T5 has a ratio of 39 cents per gigabyte, way better than other simillar products on the market.
