Moto G4 Plus Upgrade Available to Android Oreo
Moto G4 Plus owners had some unpleasant days after their device was not listed on Motorola’s list of devices that will get the Android 8.0 Oreo update. If you own this phone you already know that one of the main marketing points for the G4 Plus was the promise that Android N and O will be available on it. Users complained about this, but instead of acknowledging its mistake, Motorola silently removed all mentions of Android Oreo from the G4 Plus’s page. This move enraged customers and an entire controversy was born.
Motorola is ready to make things right
The company realized that this scandal will affect its reputation and it seems that it is ready to honor its promise. A new blog post promised to deliver the Android O update. However, Motorola claimed that the upgrade was not something planned and the marketing materials had some errors. While it is hard to believe this, it is nice to see that the company decided to listen to its customers and finally keep its promise. Motorola also added that it will take longer for G4 Plus to be updated:
“Since the time of posting this, we have learned of some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for moto g4 Plus. It’s our general practice for the moto g family to get one major OS upgrade per device, so it wasn’t originally planned for Android O. But it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading moto g4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit into our schedule, we’ll update our software upgrade page when we have more info.”
